From September to June, the academy of Muziekpublique offers more than 50 courses traditional music and dance. All classes are given by professional musicians and dancers in different locations in Brussels. Each teacher practices his or her own pedagogical approach. Music theory is not necessary for a good part of the courses, since learning is often based on oral transmission, as in the case of many world cultures. The program includes individual lessons, ensembles, and workshops for adults and youth. Join one of our music ensembles, featuring a variety of instruments and musical complexity, and delve into the genres of samba and choro, tango, tambora, or son jarocho. You can also learn the most common melodies of folk dances in the Folk ball Ensemble or let yourself be transported from East to West by traditional music with the East-West Ensemble. The academy has 14 ensembles where you will learn a repertoire and discover the joy of playing together.
