Nel Aerts (b. 1987, Turnhout, Belgium) is a multidisciplinary Belgian artist living and working in Antwerp. She studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent (2005-2009) and works across painting, collage, sculpture, drawing, video, and performance. Her practice is known for its distinctive quirky aesthetic featuring semi-figurative worlds with recurring character motifs. She uses diverse materials including textiles, foam, plexi, and traditional media, applying techniques from knives, lasers, ink, fire, spray paint, and sandpaper to create expressive works. She is represented by the Carl Freedman Gallery and has exhibited widely across Europe and internationally.
