A performer who trained in drama at the Conservatoire de Mons and in dance at Berlin’s Tanzfabrik, Sophie Guisset bases her works on observations around queer spaces, and the social organisation and political dimensions of these spaces. “I want to explore how the scene can become a space of vulnerability shared with the public, where stories of sexuality are considered with humour and sensitivity.”Three themes run through Endless Summer Camp : heterotopia, the Other space that suspends day-to-day rules; the figure of the tomboy, who challenges gender norms; and a strong preference for fantasies that stray from the beaten track. Subjects, materials and costumes are subverted, scales modified, time stretched, forming with the four performers a strangely familiar universe, with a view to inviting the audience to “share a collective erotic tension”.
