Data Controller

The data controller is SCENE SEEKER ASBL, a Brussels-based non-profit (enterprise number BE 1038.907.216).

Data We Process

Account identifiers such as email and user ID.
Profile, saved events, and preference data used to personalize event discovery.
Event content and organizer submissions.
Public Instagram content — post caption, media, permalink, mention comment, and the public account identifier — obtained via the Instagram Graph API when an account mentions or tags Scene Seeker (see below).
Operational logs used for security, anti-fraud, and abuse prevention.
Usage and conversion analytics, processed only after you accept analytics cookies (see below).

Legal Bases and Purposes

Contract: to create and maintain accounts and provide platform features.
Legitimate interests: to secure the service, detect abuse, and enforce platform rules.
Legal obligations: to respond to valid legal notices and regulatory requests.
Consent: for optional cookie categories and other optional tracking activities.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

Strictly necessary cookies are required for secure sessions and core functionality. Optional categories are disabled by default and only activated after consent.

Analytics and Third-Party Processors

With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Ltd) to measure aggregate usage and conversions. This is only activated after you accept the analytics cookie category; before consent, Google Consent Mode sends anonymized, cookieless signals.

Google Analytics may transfer data to the United States. Such transfers rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses as appropriate safeguards under GDPR.

Instagram and Meta Platform Data

When an Instagram professional account mentions or tags Scene Seeker in a public post or comment, we access — through the Instagram Graph API, under Meta's Platform Terms — that post's caption, media, permalink, the mention comment, and the public account identifier. We use this data solely to create and enrich public event listings on Scene Seeker. An operator reviews each mention before anything is published.

We do not sell this data, use it for advertising, or share it beyond the processors named above. We never post, reply to, hide, or delete comments — access is read-only in practice. Account holders can request removal of a listing or of the underlying data at info@sceneseeker.brussels. We retain it only while the related event listing is live, plus our standard backup window.

Retention and International Transfers

We retain personal data only as long as needed for service delivery, security, moderation, legal compliance, and dispute resolution. Where transfers outside the EEA occur, we apply appropriate safeguards under GDPR.

Your Rights

Under GDPR, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, and objection for eligible processing.
