Alice au Pays des Colons

Alice Kisiya is 30 years old. She is originally from Bethlehem and, unusually, holds Israeli citizenship. Yet that has not stopped the settlers from seizing her land, where her family home and her parents’ restaurant once stood. Every day, Alice returns to the site to challenge this dispossession, standing alone against the Israeli army that protects the settlers. Far from shielding her, her dual identity makes her struggle all the more symbolic: she embodies a form of civil resistance—determined and head-on—waged at the very heart of a colonial system.
