Since winning the International Chopin Concours, Bruce Liu has been a fixture on the world's great stages. In 2024, the Canadian pianist brought the house down with Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2. So it was only a matter of time before we invited him back for a recital. Liu takes you on a journey from Ligeti's modernist world of sound, via the poetry of Chopin and Albéniz' southern temperament to the impressionist strokes of Ravel and Debussy and the understated Mompou. The culmination of the evening is the Waldstein Sonata by Beethoven, as we celebrate the 200th anniversary of his death in 2027.
