Cinéclube Panorama Brasilis presents Rosemberg Cariry

Cinéclube Panorama Brasilis presents a session dedicated to Brazilian filmmaker Rosemberg Cariry, featuring PATATIVA DO ASSARÉ – AVE POESIA (2009, 84 min), followed by an online conversation with the director. Born in Farias Brito, Ceará, in 1953, Rosemberg Cariry is one of the defining figures of Brazilian cinema connected to Northeastern culture. Filmmaker, poet and writer, he has created a vast body of work focused on popular traditions, social issues and the relationship between territory and identity. His filmography includes CORISCO E DADÁ (1996), which reached international festival audiences, and OS POBRES DIABOS (2013), awarded at major Brazilian festivals. PATATIVA DO ASSARÉ – AVE POESIA portrays the life and work of Antônio Gonçalves da Silva, known as Patativa do Assaré, one of Brazil’s greatest popular poets, exploring his verses, worldview and lasting contribution to Brazilian culture.
