Cory Hanson is a singer-songwriter and guitarist from California. He is best known as the frontman of the psychedelic rock band Wand, which he founded in 2013. With Wand, he has become a defining voice in contemporary psych and indie rock, with a string of influential albums and a constantly evolving sound. In parallel, Hanson has built a solo career in which he freely explores genres: from dreamy folk to glam and cosmic country. His solo albums, including Pale Horse Rider (2021) and Western Cum (2023), showcase a more personal and melodic side of Hanson, without him losing his adventurous approach. In 2025, I Love People was released, on which he collaborates with his trusted bandmates from Wand. That collective dynamic, featuring Evan Backer and Evan Burrows among others, creates a rich sound with room for improvisation and ensemble playing. Live, Hanson is known for his free-spirited and sometimes unpredictable approach, in which songs constantly take on new forms. Whether playing solo or with Wand, Hanson’s music balances raw guitars with refined arrangements. For fans of boundary-pushing rock with a quirky twist, he remains an artist to watch.
