Dancing Dialogues: Teaching Composition

About this event

With Dancing Dialogues, P.A.R.T.S. shines a light on the work and impact of its teachers. The upcoming Dancing Dialogue focuses on teaching composition. In contemporary dance, with its strong emphasis on each artist's individual vision and strategies, 'composition' is rarely seen as something that can be taught. Yet at P.A.R.T.S. it is an important and recurring course, often drawing on the practices of artists such as Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Trisha Brown or William Forsythe. How can these compositional methods be used by other generations, in different practices and contexts? How do composition and improvisation relate to each other? And how can choreographic composition relate to music or other art forms? Guest speakers: Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Thomas Hauert, Fabrice Mazliah. Interviewer: Noé Soulier. Admission is free, but reservation is required.
