Once upon a time… or rather, once upon a time, in an unspecified future, there was a human being who lost their five senses through evolution. This concert tells their story: five scenes retrace their quest and attempts to regain their senses. For each of these lost senses is “a meaning” in itself: a significance, a way of accessing the world, a different way of thinking about it. In five sonic and olfactory chapters, this unusual concert connects music and perfumes. At the heart of this project is the encounter between composer Apolline Jesupret and Namur-based perfumer Romain Pantoustier. Joined by the Ensemble Fractales, composers Daï Fujikura and Oren Boneh, and set designer Thomas Delord, they take us on a journey to discover fragrance essences. Synesthesia, a neurological phenomenon, creates a blending of the senses—most often between hearing and sight—through unusual neural connections.
