En peau de pêche shares a series of thoughts that form a rhythmic poem; an atypical song about being crossed out and crossing yourself out, about repressing oppressive memories. About erasing what was and washing what is. About what can happen to someone when ableist, racist, sexist gazes and words run rampant beneath your skin. A playful, colourful, musical performance. NOTE ON (ARTISTIC) LANGUAGES AND ACCESSIBILITYThis performance aims to connect with everyone: individual needs, diverse backgrounds, unique bodies. peau de pêche strives to be sensory-friendly and chooses wheelchair-accessible venues. Before the performance begins, information about accessibility is available at the reception. Half an hour before the show starts, you can speak to a staff member there to get to know the set and performers in the space. A technician can show you the brightest lights or the loudest sounds. If you prefer to sit close to the exit, a reserved seat can be arranged for you. The performance lasts 50 minutes without an intermission. The doors to the venue open 5 minutes before the start of the performance. The full narrative is presented in both spoken Dutch and Flemish Sign Language. To allow space for the poetry of these languages, not everything is translated or told literally and simultaneously. Sometimes Sign Language tells the story, sometimes music, images, spoken language, or animated written language. We perform in an intimate, open setting. Moving in and out, making noise, or shifting around is not discouraged; the door always remains slightly open. Loud sounds or bright lights are avoided but will be announced if they do occur. Staff members are available to talk to, and there is a quiet space for anyone who wishes to decompress. Projections, music, and a smoke machine are used. This work deals with psychological challenges resulting from discrimination. There is no explicit violence in the performance, but sensitive themes are approached in a poetic way.
