Gwendoline Blondeel - Prix Caecilia

Echoes of Brussels presents, throughout an entire season, the most memorable creations and inhabitants of our capital. Maria Malibran is regarded as one of the great opera singers of the nineteenth century. Following her early death at the age of 28, she became a legend. Her final resting place is in Brussels. Her sister Pauline Viardot was also a singer and enjoyed renown as a composer. Young soprano Gwendoline Blondeel - who was awarded the 2025 Caecilia Prize for Young Musician of the Year - follows in the footsteps of the two sisters together with pianist Marie Datcharry, performing their music alongside works by Rossini, Donizetti and Mozart. The concert is preceded by an introduction with Klaas Coulembier that takes place at 10am in the Horta Hall. This encounter will be in French and in Dutch.
