Janine Jansen & Denis Kozhukhin

From his very earliest violin sonatas, Beethoven intentionally composed chamber music for the violin and piano. That is clear from his Piano and Violin Sonata No. 3, dedicated to his teacher Salieri in 1798, and confirmed by the Piano and Violin Sonata No. 10 fourteen years later. He doesn't simply let the violin take over: the piano has an equal, sometimes even surprisingly prominent role. This equality between the two instruments is also clearly heard in Prokofiev's Sonata No. 2, right from its first, mysterious opening movement. Established recital partners Janine Jansen and Denis Kozhukhin have paid many visits to Bozar, proving every time how closely attuned they are, and how well they support each other's music.
