Music can heal. Joshua Idehen knows this firsthand. The British-Nigerian poet, performer and musician, whose work blends spoken word, electronics and club music, recently went through a turbulent period marked by divorce, severe depression and a move to Stockholm. Music became a way for him to move forward. Inspired by figures such as Dizzee Rascal, Idehen has collaborated throughout his career with forward-thinking projects including Sons of Kemet and The Comet Is Coming, but his most personal work emerged through his partnership with Swedish producer Ludvig Parment. Their new album, 'I Know You’re Hurting, Everyone Is Hurting, Everyone Is Trying, You Have Got To Try', starts from a place of grief while actively searching for hope, connection and resilience. Idehen’s powerful words are carried by warm electronics, house influences and rhythms that invite both reflection and movement. A concert where poetry, dance music and human resilience come together.
