Kabul, Between Prayers • Aboozar Amini

Samim is 23 and a Taliban fighter. With a machine gun under his arm, he directs traffic. As he grows bored and calls his wife, a fragmented life under radical doctrine comes into view: a cult of martyrdom, strict morality and closed horizons. He talks with his 14-year-old brother, in exchanges where brotherly closeness and careful indoctrination intertwine. This film meets the people we hear so much about but rarely get to know.
