Kristin Korb “The Vocal Side of Ray Brown” Celebrating Master bassist Ray Brown at 100!

Considered by many to be the father of jazz bass, Ray Brown worked with all the jazz luminaries, from Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie, to Roy Hargrove and Joe Lovano, by the way of Ella Fitzgerald, Oscar Peterson and countless more. His bass lines were foundational and made everything swing with warmth and a drive like no other. Ray was also known as a mentor to young musicians. Outstanding American vocalist and bassist Kristin Korb was one of his students. “The Vocal Side of Ray Brown” is a program that includes some of her favorite treasures from his songbook, songs inspired by lessons she took with him, and some original gems that you might not have heard before. 2026 is the year to celebrate 100 years of Ray Brown: the music AND the man. This concert will be her first collaboration with internationally renowned guitarist Jeanfrançois Prins and drummer Bruno Castellucci. Steeped in the groove-stomping tradition of her mentor Ray Brown, bassist and vocalist Kristin Korb brings joyful drive and passion into everything she does. Whether accompanying her singing or arranging gems from the Great American Songbook or pop culture, her music radiates uplifting vibes and irresistible swing. Her newest release, Sweet Dreams (2024, Giant Sheep Music), is a bold jazz tribute to the Eurythmics. Based in Denmark, she continues to tour worldwide, inspiring audiences and students alike with music that uplifts and connects.
