Here, Florence Minder demonstrates her talent for creating comforting, poetic worlds. A production illuminated by the force of gravity: four 200 kg weights suspended from the ceiling descend gradually and the energy generated by their descent powers two-thirds of the show’s lighting. When they hit the ground, the lights go out. A remarkable set-up that makes energy in motion visible and sets the tone for the show. Energy is also what runs through the story of Eva and Rinus, friends who live together and are raising seven-year-old Moïra. The child becomes our guide in this world where the most essential things are imperceptible: the threads of friendship binding Eva and Rinus, but also the illness afflicting the latter, with no hope of recovery. How can we represent what cannot be seen? With its unique voice, the Venedig Meer company creates a colourful visual universe where the meeting of science and the intimate invites us to look at our surroundings in a different light. A journey that is at once gentle and lucid, and one that allows us to perceive the creative power of human emotions as well as that of natural phenomena. As part of IN THE (K)NOW, organised by Ohme
