Nostalgia In Grand-Place : Matthieu Van plays Thelonious Monk

An iconic figure in the history of jazz, a composer of genius and the undisputed master of bebop, Thelonious “Sphere” Monk continues to inspire long after his death nearly 45 years ago. With around 70 compositions to his name, most of which have become standards, Monk remains one of jazz’s greatest innovators. This Sunday, Mathieu Van and his musicians draw on this legacy to present a performance that pays tribute to the inventiveness and elegance of one of the genre’s most brilliant minds.
