During her residency, Aminata Soumaré explored how rituals rooted in oral traditions can become forms of living sonic memory, prompted by a personal reflection on inheriting a culture passed on through voice rather than written records, and on gradually losing her connection to her Malian heritage. Her research revealed a scarcity of documentation of everyday Malian diasporic life in Belgium, which became the departure point for her performance — experimenting with archives, recorded samples transformed through vibration, and objects of personal and cultural significance. The work unfolds as a journey through personal and collective memory, weaving voices, field recordings and oral histories.
