Robert Suermondt (b. 1961, Geneva) is a Swiss artist living and working in Brussels since 1993. Studied Media-Mixed workshops at ESAV Geneva (1983–1988) and the Rijksakademie Amsterdam (1989–1992). Suermondt's practice works with photographs cut from mass media, reconstituting them into paintings and installations that explore the image of the masses and human activity as portrayed in contemporary media. Awarded the prestigious 'Meret Oppenheim Prize' (2007) by the Swiss government. Regularly lectures at La Cambre art school, Brussels.
