Rumba Celebration marks the conclusion of the research project RRRRRUMBA, in which experts from various domains collaborated with partner organisations to speak with communities of Rumberos in Africa (DR Congo), the Americas (Cuba) and Europe (Catalunya). They listened to their stories, gestures and memories. These encounters resulted in a living body of work, shaped by transmission, movement and shared voices. In 2027, Brussels opens its doors to a celebration of rumba as part of the Congolisation festival. The city becomes a place of togetherness, where rumba manifests as a space for encounter, dialogue, and collective festivity. The full programme will be announced soon. Rumba Celebration is a collaboration between Madam Fortuna (Belgium), KVS (Belgium), Zinneke (Belgium), Carabutsi (Spain), World Harmonies (France), Tabu World (Congo), ICM - Instituto Cubano de la Música (Cuba), and made possible with the support of the European Union, within the framework of the RRRRRUMBA research project.
