Belgian singer, pianist and composer Caroll Vanwelden has developed a musical language of her own, rooted in jazz and enriched by pop, chamber music and electronics. Her music is intimate, atmospheric and cinematic. With Shakespeare Revisited, she gives Shakespeare’s sonnets a surprising new life as contemporary songs. No classical recitation, but music in which the words become lyrics for melodies that can be fragile and intimate, yet also powerful and compelling. Love, desire, doubt and the passing of time sound remarkably close, even more than 400 years later.
