Leaping and counting. When he created this work in 2014, Jan Martens set his dancers a physical and choreographical challenge: going the distance through a work in which leaping is the key movement repeated almost without interruption. The performers leapt in line on a precise choreographic canvas, from which none of them was able to escape. Recreated in 2025, this bravura piece of contemporary dance makes every spectator reflect on the concept of performance in dance, and in the system that produces it. What are we looking for, faced with dancing bodies? Physical prowess gives way to the singular humanity of the performers, as they grow weary. You then have to see how it feels to (re)experience this implacable collective beating, in the light of our present.
