€22.00I was barely 20 when TUTU came out. It blew my mind. I’d come from a rock background – the Stones, Prince… and then, suddenly, Miles Davis. Nearly forty years later, TUTU has come back to haunt me. With a line-up of six musicians, the project revisits this electric and fiercely modern period in Miles Davis’s career, using TUTU as a starting point and Marcus Miller as a guiding light. Here, there’s no question of reproducing the album note for note. Instead, we rediscover the spirit of Miles’s live performances: a riff, a groove, a cue… and the music can shift at any moment. TUTU is jazz that draws on funk, rock and electronic music. It’s tense, free and physical music, where listening and the groove are paramount. And above all, there’s one desire: to recapture on stage that incredible sense of danger that characterised Miles Davis’s music. Eric D'Agostino
