About
Cinemaximiliaan is a Brussels non-profit that makes cinema for and with people on the move. It began in 2015, when Gwendolyn Lootens and Gawan Fagard carried a projector and a roll-up screen into the improvised refugee camp in Maximiliaan Park and screened films for the new arrivals. It now runs a project house in Molenbeek's canal zone with a film studio, recording studio, editing rooms, a kitchen and accommodation, and brings films, debates, concerts and workshops to asylum centres, private homes and cinemas across Belgium.
