C’est la fête dans le chaos

It’s a party in the chaos, using textile and watercolor mediums, unfolds a fiction where cultures brush against one another, collide, and attempt to reinvent themselves. Two generations meet here: the boat people who arrived in the 1970s and their children born in Europe. To tell the story, the Kaun Kat — small blue imps whose name means “cut children” in popular Khmer — become the narrators, hopping between joys, fears, and inherited tensions. Around them, olfactory memories and imagined landscapes form a playful terrain where cultural shifts become clues within an installation shaped like a game. The emergence of a language blending French and Khmer generated by a search engine creates an unstable, joyfully distorted typography. Comic-strip speech bubbles, readable yet incomprehensible, transcribe phonetic Khmer. These shifts in meaning become living material the place where children of the diaspora craft their own mythologies, somewhere between transmission, celebration and chaos.
