FreeFor our 42nd edition we’re going back to Continental on Place de Brouckère. We’re very happy to come back to Continental because our first party there went well, the workers made us all feel very welcome, we like working with their manager, their soundsystem is good enough to enjoy drum & bass in a bar setting, and several of you told us how much you appreciated their cocktails. This time it’ll be a classic Drum & Beer session, which will start with Liquid Funk and go to the Deep end of DnB. We’ve chosen to invite artists who’ve supported us since our early days, and who are particularly good at making your ass move. Miss Elorak is the most experienced DJ to play regularly at our parties. We wanted to invite her for our birthday party at La Source and she wasn’t available, but she told us she was eager to play in September, and as she’s one of the best we know to tear the dancefloor to shreds, we had to invite her for this edition. Boycot & Madlock played for us at our first party in Café Central, on the 25th of Februari 2023, they were excellent, and we’ve wanted to invite them back ever since. They host the radio show “Liquid Flavaz” on urgent.fm, the radio of the university of Gent, which is Belgium's longest running drum and bass radio show. Cynical Gene is also one of the artists we've invited the most often, and as he's now living in Spain and is coming back to Belgium for a week in September, we had to take up that opportunity to put him on the line up. MC D-Bro is also a regular at our parties, he's a true don on the mic, and we wanted to reunite him with his good friend Cynical Gene while he was back in Belgium. Hyrsut has been a regular raver at our parties, but it'll be the first time he performs at Drum & Beer ! We can't wait to hear what he has in store for us. Line up: Miss Elorak Boycot & Madlock Cynical Gene Hyrsut Cellarman MC D-Bro Free entrance – Music from 9pm to 4am Musical variety is on board, we always encourage our DJs to build a diverse musical journey, with a general stylistic direction ; this time we’ve organised the timetable to start with Liquid Funk and go to the deep end of DnB, but many different sounds will pop up in between. As you've probably noticed by looking at the flyer, we have a new artistic direction, which is inaugurated with this party and will follow us for a long time. This is all thanks to Leslie Devota, an amazing girl who contacted us a few months ago saying she loved our project, that she was a graphic and web designer, and wanted to create a new artistic direction as well as a new website for Drum & Beer. After checking her style out and seeing a few of the designs she made for us, we gave her the green light, and were completely blown away by the end result. So we hope you like it as much as we do, because in the future all our flyers will be easily recognizable by their design ; old school, black and one color, hand drawn designs, beer glasses that come alive as cartoon personas. You'll see in the coming months the variety of flyers that can be made within this design, and we are hopeful that the new website, along with our first line of merchandise, will be online sometime next year. We highly encourage you to call on Leslie for your design needs ; she's extremely professional, very talented, and can work within tight budgets when it's needed. If you're looking for someone to help you renew the whole graphic design of your project, she's definitely a very good choice. Continental is a very interesting project ; on the ground floor is the bar where the party will take place, on the three first floors you’ll find crafts·wo·men & artists exposing and selling their productions, as well as shops selling second hand clothes, glasses and even toys, on the fourth floor you’ll find tattoo artists and a beauty corner, and on the fifth and sixth floor are coworking spaces for entrepreneurs. We like Continental because they have an alternative vibe, are engaged in the promotion of arts & crafts, and their values are close to ours: Quality, Respect, Tolerance, Sharing, Fun, Transparency, Integrity. We also like their drinks menu ; they sell local soft drinks from small craft producers like L’annexe, Cuarenta and Fritz, and to top it all off, they’re going to put two beers from small local craft breweries on their menu just for us. Keep peace, love & respect in the air ! Abusing alcohol is dangerous for your health. Please drink responsibly. Poster design @devotaleslie
