Film "Observations | Waarnemingen" - Jess Sutton

Observations | Waarnemingen, is a short, experimental film by artist Jess Sutton in collaboration with The Royal Meteorological Institute of Belgium and Ennea sounds. The film explores our personal connection with the sky through people who know and understand it so completely; scientists working at the Royal Meteorological Institute of Belgium. The sky unites and touches us all on this fractured planet. As it crosses borders and boundaries, we explore the precious poetry of this shifting, collective territory and discover the direct impact that climate change is having on the planet. With the financial support of Uccle Commune: ‘Aide à la création’ and SOFAM. The connection between my video and my painting work is that research is done using my camera to record ideas. The glass lens separates me from my subject, and I become an observer of time. Painting has become a means of creating the ultimate still. Recent works explore our profound need to connect with nature and its energy.
