Giusy Caruso
About this event
Giusy Caruso is an Italian pianist and researcher based in Brussels. She teaches performance analysis and leads the CREATION research group at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp in Belgium. Her work lies at the intersection of piano performance, artistic research, philosophy, neuroscience, musicology and multimedia technologies. Recipient of the 2023 S+T+ARTS Honorary Mention, awarded by the European Commission for her outstanding research into the connections between art, science and technology, she develops innovative forms of musical performance incorporating virtual reality, the metaverse and the analysis of performance gestures. Her approach thus opens up "new spaces and formats for classical concerts" (Angelo Foletto, la Repubblica, 2022). An internationally acclaimed interpreter of contemporary music, she pursues an international career and has made numerous recordings and released several albums. She is the author of scientific articles and is regularly invited to give international masterclasses. In 2022, she published La Ricerca Artistica Musicale (LIM), the first book in Italian dedicated to this subject, which, according to Il Giornale della Musica (2025), "filled a gap and opened up a new path".
