A core group of dancers from different Voetvolk eras plays off live music by the quartet Ola Tunji. The emphasis lies on immediacy, collective risk, and a heightened state of presence within an unfolding score. Fragments from earlier pieces are revisited as a living vocabulary: past movement material is re-framed through spontaneous composition and reactivated in the present, juxtaposed with live music rooted in both jazz tradition and innovation. Part of An Evening with VoetvolkVoetvolk celebrates twenty years of artistic expression and adventure. In 2027, the dance company marks its twentieth anniversary. Over that time, they have created 15 performances and toured more than 100 cities across some 35 countries. Voetvolk invites you to celebrate the journey they have undertaken – filled with joy and beauty, stress and doubt. On this extraordinary evening, we celebrate movement, music and the indomitable spirit that has driven Voetvolk for two decades. An Evening With Voetvolk features: It’s going to get worse and worse and worse, my friend, the presentation of a book celebrating 20 years of Voetvolk, Impressions #1 and a concert by Dendermonde. Come join the party!
