Leaven – a novel by Timothy Ryan Day

Join author Timothy Ryan Day for an evening exploring Leaven, his novel of fermentation, grief, AI, and the strange processes through which inert matter is brought to life. He will talk about the ideas and experiences that shaped the novel, including academic research on early modern fermentation, and his work with food and beer in industrial kitchens in Spain. The discussion will be followed by a reading of select passages that reflect on the connections between narrative, biological life, mythology, and emerging technologies. The evening will conclude with an open Q&A and conversation with the audience. Reading & conversation in English. Bar open at Sabbar from 6:30pm when doors open.
