Vincent Bioulès (b. 1938, Montpellier) is a legendary French painter and co-founder of the Support/Surface movement, one of the last avant-garde movements of the 1970s. After abandoning abstraction in the mid-1970s, he returned to figurative painting, creating panoramic landscapes built from 'mnemonic images, captured several times at several times of day, then recomposed in the workshop.' His oil-on-canvas works explore color, light, and the relationships between repeated moments and places.
