ELECTRIC FEVER | Balkatas, Ledoux, Tulve | ARS MUSICA

The Belgian ensemble LAPS brings acoustic instruments into dialogue with laptops. The virtuosity of the musicians goes hand in hand with the electronic impulses. The Lithuanian LENsemble Vilnius is a fervent advocate of both written and improvised music and is coming to Ars Musica with six acoustic musicians. Electric Fever / Sound Migrations is the title of the meeting between the 18 artists of these two ensembles. In a single concert, three ambitious creations are on the program, by the Estonian Helena Tulve, the Lithuanian Vykintas Balkatas, and the Belgian Claude Ledoux, respectively. A concert in which the inexhaustible energy of urban technology comes face to face with the memory of natural ecosystems. Vykintas Balkatas draws inspiration from gaming for his 'electric fever'. Claude Ledoux blends fragments of vast sound ecosystems with animal cries and references to traditional music of peoples from the High North.
